Hydro Jetting in San Marino: what actually fails
On a long lateral under a garden, jetting is the intervention that avoids digging — which is worth a great deal more here than the price difference over snaking. It is also the job most likely to cross $1,000, and therefore to require a license.
A planned residential city west of Arcadia, laid out in the early twentieth century to a consistent standard and substantially unchanged in character.

- Locating precisely before anything is dug
- Which sink or bathroom is actually affected
- That a job this size may cross the license threshold

Call, and tell us what is affected
Which fixtures, and whether anything is backing up at the lowest point in the building.
Ask us the repair question
If this turns out to need a repair rather than a clearing, can you do it?
The cheap answers first
If it is one slow fixture, we will tell you what to try before we come out — a plunger with the overflow blocked, or a hand snake past the trap.
Clear it, then say what caused it
A blockage cleared without a cause explained is a blockage you will pay for again.
What to do before anybody arrives

- Can you still act if this becomes a repairThe whole point of this site. Ask it before anybody opens anything, and ask it at midnight as readily as at midday.

Hydro Jetting in San Marino: straight answers

Still have a question?
Call and ask. You get a straight answer and an estimated range before anybody drives out.
(626) 659-1774Is jetting safe for my pipes?
On sound plastic, yes. On a cracked clay lateral or cast iron that has scaled thin, full pressure can turn a blockage into a repair. That is why we will not jet a line we have not seen inside — not to sell an inspection, but because the pressure has to suit the pipe.
Why is it more expensive than snaking?
Because it does a different job. A cable bores a hole through the blockage; a jet strips the bore back to the pipe wall. On a line snaked twice in a year, the third snaking buys the same afternoon again.
Why pour salt down the drain every night?
There is no good reason to, and it will not do what the videos suggest. Salt is mildly abrasive, so combined with very hot water it may scour a little loose residue from the trap. It does not dissolve grease, it does nothing whatsoever to hair or roots, and it will not move an existing blockage. It is also harmless, which is why the habit persists — nobody notices it failing. If you want a nightly routine that does something, run the hot tap for thirty seconds after washing up. That actually moves warm fat along before it cools and settles.
How much should it cost to clear a clogged drain?
$100 to $275 for a standard drain in this area. A simple sink or tub cleared with a hand snake is $75 to $175; a kitchen line furred with grease is $150 to $300; a sewer line snaked is $200 to $450, and hydro jetting one is $350 to $800. If a quote is well outside those, the question is what it includes — particularly whether a camera run, a cleanout excavation or a repair has been folded into a price described as a clearing.
