Our Process

How a Arcadia job runs, step by step: the call, the written quote, the work and the test — and the cheaper option named when there is one.

Drain Cleaning in Arcadia
Sequence

Four steps, start to finish

Told whether this is a clearing or a repair before anybody starts, not halfway through.

Call, and tell us what is affected

Which fixtures, and whether anything is backing up at the lowest point in the building.

Ask us the repair question

If this turns out to need a repair rather than a clearing, can you do it?

The cheap answers first

If it is one slow fixture, we will tell you what to try before we come out — a plunger with the overflow blocked, or a hand snake past the trap.

Clear it, then say what caused it

A blockage cleared without a cause explained is a blockage you will pay for again.

Before you call anybody

One question that is worth more than 'are you licensed'

Because in California, for most drain work, the answer to that one is allowed to be no.

There is no separate drain license in…

Drainage, sewer and storm drains sit inside the C-36 plumbing classification at the Contractors State License Board.

And most drain work sits below the…

Under AB 2622, since 1 January 2025, California's minor-work exemption is $1,000 — up from $500.

So ask the question that actually bites

Not 'are you licensed', which invites a yes from somebody who does not need to be.

Then ask for the number and check it

A C-36 license number can be checked against the board's own register in under a minute.

The first real rain finds every joint the roots got into

Worth knowing, because the busiest week of the year is entirely predictable.

Roots grow through the warm months into any joint that has moved, and a lateral can run at half capacity for a long time without anybody noticing. Then the first sustained rain arrives, groundwater raises the load on the line, and a drain that had merely been slow stops altogether — across whole foothill streets in the same week.

Which makes the cheap version of this a scheduled problem rather than an emergency. If a drain was slow last winter and slow again this spring, it is telling you what will happen in November. Dealing with it in standard hours in September costs a fraction of dealing with it at nine on a wet Sunday, and it is the same work.
